One thing writers always love to complain about is notes from the network. It’s fine to complain, but when you really break it down it’s your job to handle the network’s notes. They are your boss. If you worked at McDonalds would you push back on your boss’s dislike of your burger flipping and expect to still have your job? No. Unless you’re producing your own Youtube Channel or Podcast, notes are part of the deal. That of course doesn’t mean you can’t question some of them, just be prepared to offer solutions. Being a complainer who doesn’t bring a fix to the problem doesn’t make you a writer, it makes you a whiner. And nobody likes to work with a whiner. So when you get notes, take a breath and even go for a walk if you need to, to process them. Then sit down and figure out which ones you can handle and which ones you want to offer solutions to. You’ll be happier and more employed for your efforts. Now, back to my notes.
